Maîtres Laitiers du Cotentin facing the Covid-19 Crisis

As the whole world is facing the Covid-19 crisis, the Maîtres Laitiers du Cotentin cooperative has quickly adapted to continue to offer consumers basic dairy products and avoid unnecessary losses. The agrifood company still ensures today with great efficacy the supply continuity to distributors and shops.

Maintaining supply all over the country

The French dairy sector is vital to the running of the country; it ranks today in second position in the agrifood sector. Proud of its annual EUR 1.9 billion turnover and of its investment in large retailers and the out-of-home catering sector, the Maitres Laitiers du Cotentin cooperative has always maintained an optimal supply to its partners during this difficult period.

Cotentin’s fourth private employer has adapted its production lines in March, thus making it possible to meet a 2.5 times higher demand, particularly for products such as crème fraîche, butter or UHT milk. Thanks to real collaborative work between the management and operational teams, the company has shown exceptional responsiveness, and relied on its employees’ adaptability with work shifts, 6.5 days a week.

The management of “packaging” suppliers has also been put to the test as the printing was advanced and delivery schedules adapted, thus meeting all requests coming from our still active customers.

Christian Queinnec, the Maîtres Laitiers du Cotentin sales manager, underlined the satisfaction of their partners.

“Our customers have praised MLC’s ability to meet their expectations in this unprecedented and unpredictable background! It is a great reward and even a pride for the teams to be congratulated by large retailers!”

Dairy production respecting the lockdown and “barrier gestures”

On a daily basis, the Maîtres Laitiers du Cotentin cooperative sets hygiene at the top of its priorities and applies strict rules at all levels. In order to protect its employees, partners and consumers, MLC has further strengthened its sanitary practices in all its factories.

Hand sanitizers, masks and gowns were made available, and reminders on “barrier gestures” were installed. Cleaning techniques for premises and production lines have also been reinforced in order to eliminate any possible trace of infection.

A company supporting Normandy’s health professionals

Supporting from the beginning Normandy’s health professionals, Maîtres Laitiers du Cotentin has decided to donate several tens of tons of dairy products to the teams of public hospitals, nursing homes, retirement homes and private clinics over the French departments of Manche and Calvados.

Such a beautiful solidarity between teams has enabled MLC to meet all its customers’ requests and to remain a reliable and strong ally throughout the Covid-19 crisis.
